Champion results for LeAF Studio

She has already been crowned a British champion in her chosen sport and now Serena O’Connor has proven to be a champion academic.  The LeAF Studio student and 2016 British Elite Duathlon Champion had more cause to celebrate when she collected her A-level results – achieving gold medal standard with two As and an A*.  Serena, who will now study Zoology at Southampton University, leads the charge of many great exam results for this year’s Year 13s at Bournemouth’s LeAF Studio.

Golfer Jacob Hunter is now swinging into a professional sports career after finishing his academic life on a high.  The talented sports star achieved a double Distinction in BTEC Sport, Distinction* in Creative Media and a D at A Level Business.

Meanwhile footballer Erin Leonard is already stateside specialising in Soccer at an American university.  Before she left she completed a BTEC in Sport at LeAF Studio, scoring an impressive triple Distinction*.

And dancer Megan Holland has waltzed away with an impressive array of results.  She has not only achieved a triple Distinction* in Performing Arts but also three A-levels in Dance, Ethics and Philosophy – giving her the equivalent of five A-levels in total.

Principal Nadine Lapskas, said: “This was another year of exceptional results for our Year 13 students.  For Applied General subjects (BTECs) the average grade was a Distinction and for the more specific vocational Tech Level qualifications, the average grade was Distinction*.  In addition, academic results were also impressively high with the average grade achieved by all LeAF students at C+ and 100% of all grades were A* to E.  More than one in five of the grades awarded were either an A or A*.”

LeAF Studio, now part of Ambitions Academies Trust (AAT), is a specialist state school offering an academic programme alongside special coaching and training for athletes and performers aged 13 to 19.

Executive Principal and AAT Director, Paul Holman, said: “These fantastic results are testament to the hard work and sheer determination of all our students and the dedication of our staff.  We wish the students every success with their futures.”
