Hats off to leaving students

Primary schools in Bournemouth and Poole gave their departing Year 6s a send-off to remember.

Three Ambitions Academies Trust primary schools – ManorsideKing’s Park and Queen’s Park – held graduation ceremonies for the 10 and 11 year-olds who are leaving for secondary school.  Complete with mortar boards and gowns, dozens of children across the three schools were presented with a keepsake scroll to remind them of their time at primary school.

CEO of Ambition’s Academies Trust, Sian Thomas, said: “We have shared a wonderful 7 year journey with our Year 6s and we wanted to give them a ceremony to remember us by.  They are a very special group of children who have done our schools proud while they have been with us. We wish them every success at secondary school where I am sure they will continue to shine.”

Manorside Academy in Poole saw 40 of its children graduate this year.  They all received a special diploma from the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Lindsay Wilson and got to the keep the tassel on their mortar boards.  Its Year 6s have worked incredibly hard and their efforts made Manorside the top school in Poole for progress this year.

King’s Park saw 84 of its Year 6 children graduate in style.  Scrolls and memories books were awarded to the pupils by the Mayor of Bournemouth, Cllr Lawrence Williams.  Emotional speeches were made by the Year 6 teachers and the youngsters themselves also shared their memories from their time at school – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

And at Queen’s Park 120 pupils also graduated in front of the Mayor of Bournemouth,  The Mayor presented them all with a certificate and a memory book.  At the ceremony the school told them how proud it was for all their achievements and wished them all the best for the future.
