Rotary treats pupils to a fun day out

Nigel Bowes Campus, Tregonwell Academy

PUPILS from the Nigel Bowes campus of Tregonwell Academy enjoyed two fun filled days out thanks to the Rotary.

The Nigel Bowes campus, in Ensbury Avenue, Bournemouth, is operated by Ambitions Academies Trust (AAT) and teaches primary school age children with complex needs, including autistic spectrum disorders.

Its younger pupils spent the day (June 14) at the Adventure Wonderland theme park in Hurn.  While older pupils spent a day navigating the treetops at Moors Valley Country Park’s Go Ape (June 15).

Andrew Dawson, president of East Cliff Rotary, said: “Every June National Rotary KidsOut Day takes over 25,000 disadvantaged children on a fun day out. The children visit the seaside, theme parks, adventure playgrounds and zoos across the country. East Cliff Rotary has nominated Nigel Bowes for this event for several years now and this year they enjoyed a trip to Adventure Wonderland. In addition this year, East Cliff Rotary also paid for a separate trip for the older pupils to Moors Valley.”

Andrew continued: “Our members accompany the children and their teachers and together with hundreds of other schoolchildren from across the area they have a really memorable day. We are proud to be part of it.”

Rotary is the largest worldwide organisation of volunteers and is mainly made up of business people who want to put something back into society and their community.

Nigel Bowes Associate principal, James Franzen said: “We are very grateful to the Rotary for arranging these great days out for our pupils. They look forward to it immensely and always have a fantastic time.”

Tregonwell Academy is graded outstanding by Ofsted and also consists of the Petersfield Campus (secondary age pupils) and Throop Learning Centre (TLC).
