Tregonwell Academy Tregonwell Academy, formerly Bicknell School, became an Academy in April 2012. It is an outstanding academy providing personalised education tailored to meet the individual needs of its pupils aged 5-16 years.

Tregonwell Academy caters for pupils who:
• have a statement of special educational needs for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties;
• pupils with autism;
• pupils who find it difficult to cope in their mainstream schools
• pupils who are on a fixed term or permanent exclusion.

There are three campuses: Petersfield Campus provides for our secondary pupils; Nigel Bowes Campus provides for our primary pupils and Throop Learning Centre provides for our sick and phobic pupils.

Tregonwell Academy provides a safe and positive environment in which our pupils can develop positive relationships and attitudes.  As a result of this, their learning experience becomes enjoyable and fulfilling.

Tregonwell Academy has high expectations.  Staff and pupils are challenged to strive for the highest standards possible.  High levels of support are provided to our pupils, who often find learning difficult, in order for them to reach their full potential.

Our highly trained staff have the ability to work with pupils with a range of difficulties.  Through high staff ratios Tregonwell is able to work flexibly with pupils and their families to ensure school becomes a successful part of our pupils’ lives.  Personalised timetables which meet the individual needs of the pupil are developed in conjunction with the pupil, their parents and staff in order to get the programme right.  Staff encourage pupils to recognise their strengths and achieve their potential.

Tregonwell was rated as “Outstanding” in all categories in its latest Ofsted in April 2013.  In May 2014 Tregonwell Academy also gained Teaching School status.

Clay P. Bedford You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiousity he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.
